Once I'm Gone

Once I’m gone for what will I be remembered?
Will I be remembered for my charity work
Or as the person who succeeded in
Pissing many of people off?
As the civil servant turned fundraiser
Or as a dependent self- pitying sod?
 
Will I be remembered for my obsession
With aspects of local history?
As the man who showed facets of OCD?
If I leave an impression on people
Once I’ve breathed my last
What legacy will I have passed
 
On to those I leave behind?
Will I be remembered with fondness
As a man who brought much joy?
Or will I be remembered as
A clingy nuisance and someone
Who would annoy?
 
When they’re gathered at my funeral
What will they be thinking?
What song or music will they play?
Will family be linking
Arms in sorrow, will those present
Be sad to see me go
 
Or will it be just the passing of an awkward sod
Some guy they used to know?
