Afterlife

As he takes his last breath
the essence of him has left
his spirit takes flight
off to the afterlife.

Unshackled from human form
his essence lives on at home
presence seen in a flickering
flame or shadows upon the wall.

Presence felt at mention of name a cold chill whipping round leg veins. Movement seen from corner of eye, feels like spirit is alive.

In troubled times, when mind is asleep he creeps inside my dreams. Here he speaks of possibilities, that problems are never what they seem.

No longer here on earth, I know
but believing in the afterlife shows, spiritually he has not gone he continues to live on, here in my world.
