After The Rain: ( Sonnet)
Inspired By Raymond Quence's Painting

After the rain, light flickers through the trees,
The old man and his grandson can perceive,
A sumptuous merging of gold and green.
Many years from now, such a splendid scene
Will remain, in the young boy's memory.
O when his grandfather has passed away,
He will dream of sweet summers that have been;
When joy and wonder were always at play!
He'll dream of haystacks and the farmer's plough.
His whole being will come alive with sights,
Scents and tastes and many different sounds.
After the rain, the light always arrives,
And curious eyes, are known to perceive,
Strange, glittering things arising from dreams.
