Poem -

All Because

A smile so bright

A mind so dark

A world so gray

And no one knew.

No one saw

Saw the scars on her arms.

No one heard

Heard her cries for help with every laugh.

No one thought

Thought she wouldn't be able to handle it alone every time she cried.

No one considered

Considered the fact that she needed someone else.

And that was the way she wanted it.

She wanted them to be happy.

Not to worry.

She knew they deserved it,

The way that she knew she didn't.

She deserved very little.

Blood running down her arms.

Crying herself to sleep every night.

The never ending headaches.

Those were the only things she deserved,

And often she thought even those were too good for her.

Often she glanced at her bottleĀ

Her bottle of stolen antidepressants

And she wondered what it would feel like

To swallow them all.

She woke screaming

Every night

But no one heard her.

Her nightmares were drowning her

But no one saw.

A girl

With the brightest smile you'd ever seen

And the dead eyes

Of someone who can't take it anymore.

A razor

Dripping with blood.

A classroom

Filled with shocked teenagers

Unable to process the news.

A funeral

Filled with people who blamed themselves.

A coffin

Holding a girl

Who will never smile again

Who got her final wish.

A life

That was short.

That was wasted.

That was spent confused and afraid.

A final embrace

With the Goddess of Death,

Sad that she must accept one so young,

But loving all the same.

All because

No one noticed that her smile never reached her eyes

And her arms were covered with scars.
