All that Glitters is Not Gold

            All that Glitters Isn’t Gold

In the soft silence of the wood,

The distraught mother approached the andante river

She had done everything she could

Yet her attempts to warm herself were in vain as she continued to shiver

Submerging her two feet into the water, she held her breath

But the water wasn’t cold, nor tepid. T’was warm.

All her worries alleviated, out of the reach of the hand of death

Her misery into joy did transform

Behind her stood a waterfall crashing into the large stream

Ahead, calm warm waters that, shall eternally last

Yet, for the poor woman, this was all a dream.

Bending over, she wet her soot covered hands ridding herself of the past

Then she looked aside her to see her soot covered child

Leaving the river, she held him in her arms and smiled
