All I Can Do

All I Can Do

I do what you say,
except, I guess what I do isn’t what you wanted.

I did what was right,
except I still was the one to blame.

I tried to hit your bullseye,
except your bullseye is too small to even see.

I try to achieve, I do my best,
but I guess
my best
isn’t good enough for you.

So all I can do
is cry
and wonder,
“What am I doing wrong,
is it not enough?”

I stare
I contemplate
I think back to the day,
and all I can say
is that
I drown in my thoughts
to find the missing piece
that I attempt to find
because I know
that
that piece
can make you happy

It can make you finally proud of me,
and it won’t last for just a second.
It won’t be a memory you soon forget.

It will be forever.

So all I can do
is search
in hopes that I finally will be enough.
Except deep down,
I know,
that what I’m searching for
is unsearchable.
