ALL I COULD GIVE

She brought all to the table; I came empty
At the other end boiled emotions commitment-filled
My heart; it spent as much as a penny
Passion in my bosom fell but I won’t flinch
Every day, as her soft gaze met my unyielding eyes,
Nothing more than pity I could feel for her
Wholeheartedness, welcomed with sighs
Could I give that which was not there?
When love knocks at the wrong door
And denied the warmth of a home
And a heart fails to receive the benevolence that pours
It is as draining as a viable seed not yielding to the sow
I couldn’t drown even at the heel with love that deep
My heart continuously seeped as it received
