All That Glitters
My achievements are but a few,
Had a competitive spirit; is true!
Always wanted a trophy; for sure!
Baseball championship; being the lure!
The team I was on; never seemed to win!
I was discouraged! could this be a sin?
Focused on my childhood game of pool,
Always excelling; seemed to be the rule.
Won many trophies, secured some money!
This seemed the game to bring in the honey!
My collection quest; grew to gaudy scenes!
However, this was always in my dreams!
The trophies; plastic gold; never to rust,
Now all they're good for; is collecting dust!

Ah...Collecting dust?? I'm sensing a disappointment Jim lol. Sometimes though I think we review how much energy we put into something... how important it seemed at the time only to realise it wasn't that important at all. I bet you've got some cracking memories though...hugs x
thanks Marion! and yes those memories are cherished!
thank you GREG! Bunches!
Nice write Jim,
This poem reminds me of my father who had many trophies from competing in darts tournaments in the 80's.
Take care - Syd
thanks for reminiscing with me Syd!
All that glitters, not gold. You have shined brightly Jim and left a sparkling set of memories to share and cherish with those you love. A true gift to leave. How wonderful to learn of your many talents. A good write
