ALMOST DISASTROUS DATE

You’re beauty astounds me 
So glad you found me 
You didn’t damn me like others 
Their loss your gain 
Can you remember, 
When we first met? 
Sunday afternoon 
We had crepe suzettes 
You had chocolate sauce 
I laughed as it dripped down your face 
You raced for a napkin 
To clean your face
Quickly removing the 
Chocolate with haste  

I laughed my socks off
 as you knocked over your glass
I laughed till breathless 
I’d  run out of gas
You just looked and gave 
Me this face 
A face I remember 
I see it most days

Afterwards we went for a walk 
Me being so quiet 
We didn’t really talk 
But still we walked hand in hand 
Down to the bandstand 
And listened to the band

Can you remember when we first touched?
The static from my finger gave you quite a shock 
Made you curse and let go of my hand 
Couldn’t quite hear you over the band 
Said I was sorry then re offered my hand

We took a walk down by the canal 
I bought you an ice cream 
You ate yours too quick 
Your eyes wondered to mine 
So I gave you a lick 
You took me by surprise 
As lick turned to a kiss  

I was the gentleman 
Or so I thought 
Not my fault you fell on the floor 
I pulled out your chair
For you to sit down 
A little further than intended 
You fell on the ground 

I opened the door
my elbow caught your face 
that look on your face 
put me in my place 
but you smiled when I 
kissed it better 
I thought this is it 
It doesn’t get any better

I walked you back to your car 
A wasp flew around you and entered
Your bra 
You danced about like a crazy chick 
Patting yourself down 
Took your bra off and threw it on the ground 
Stamped on it the wasp no longer buzzed 
Me myself couldn’t understand the fuss 

I opened your car door you took your seat 
I closed the door forgetting your feet 
You cursed and cursed 
This time I heard  what you said 
Words like that shouldn’t really be said 
I go for a kiss you wind the window down 
We butt heads 
We both frown 

Thinking about it I’m surprised 
we stayed together 
we’re a disastrous pair 
but we complement each other
