Along Came A Spider

Along Came A Spider

I remember the first time that I saw him, in the middle of the night;
In the corner of our downstairs powder room, he thought I wanted him to fight!
He stood up all poised to attack me, if I came to him more near;
I said, “No, no, my little spider, there is nothing you need fear”!
.
“I’m sorry if I scared you, and bad vibes to you I send”;
“Your life is very dear to me, and I’d like to be your friend”!
“For I come here very often, in the hours before dawn”;
“I want to get to know you, and us always get along”!
.
He seemed to understand me, realized him I’d never harm;
For a week we kind of bonded, ingested each other’s charm!
But a few days ago, he seemed to teeter, his legs began to sway;
No longer could he stand tall, and do the games that we would play!
.
I thought maybe I could save him, so I put some lettuce near his side;
I watched him come to see it, and he knew that I had tried!
But yesterday I found him, laying lifeless on the floor;
My little sweet Arachnid, please rest in peace for evermore!
.
.
                              I love you spider
                      We bonded so very close
                           No web of lies this

I realize Arachnophobia is a common phobia among many people, Larry. But like you I go out of my way not to hurt spiders.
I'll scoop the little creature up in my hand and toss it outside if I find one in the house.
If people who fear spiders would realize how many pesky pests spiders help to control, like flies, cockroaches and mosquitoes, perhaps they wouldn't fear them as much.
In a world without spiders, we would be overrun with a plethora of pests.
Cute poem.
Enjoy your weekend.

Dear Dean,

You're a little braver than I am, for even though I don't have Arachnophobia, I don't think I could use my hand to scoop one up.  I always try to get them in a little jar, then set them free outside.  I contemplated doing that with my little friend, but was afraid it was far too cold out for him to survive.  I hope that I added some pleasure and time to his too short life.

Thanks for your most informative comment.
Still waiting to have the pleasure of meeting you.

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
