American Literature Falling In Love With You

It was the early 80's
I was in Military boarding School
A teenÂ
an open
vessel
to learn
I remember
Colonel Hayes
English Teacher
Actually smoked
while he taught
There was
many of a time
we as students
tried to evade
The Colonels' ashes
when he
shook
his hand
as he lectured
this wasÂ
the timeÂ
I fell
in love
with
you
as you
seduced
me with
Such classics
as the
"Catcher in The Rye"
"The Great Gatsby"
and The horrors
of Edgar Allen Poe
You
American Literature
became my Lover
One I could
sit back
and dream
with
A mentor
that surged
the creativity
that I held
within
and
a co conspirator
to my life's
escape
As a True Lover
you are..........................
I often go
back to
you
as you
satisfy
my intellectual
urges
like no
other
a life long
addiction
that I am helplesslyÂ
enslaved to.......................

Hey GREG!!...... this REALLY took me back to my early English teachers and such great books that still, to this day, linger in my memory as some kind of divine reference material! Lol!..... again, I find myself wanting to yell out......"WOW!!, we have an awful lot in common!!"...., you my friend..... are that person that seems to have walked the path that I have walked in so many ways...,., one day we will sit together and share tales that we already know in detail.... over a nice cold one!!.....thanx so much for sharing this!!........ smiles.....T xo ???✴?
