American Muslim

They're afraid, of what we might do
They're afraid, that the kindness we show is a lie
They're afraid, that the gossip is true
They're afraid, that there is something behind the smiles of you and I
You and I, who are we? People who believe in something they don't want to accept
You and I, we are innocents, children, fathers, mothers, families, same as they
They, who are they? People who assume but don't know how they affect
You and I, we get hurt not understanding why they think the same for everyday
They don't look for the truth left,
untouched left astray
They're afraid, they don't think before they glare
They're afraid, they don't know how it hurts
They're afraid, of what we wear?
They're afraid, of the truth they always divert.
What it means to be you and I?
It means to be strong
Not let our emotions fly
It means to show them they are wrong
Not to have a fit and let go of a dream that's status is so high
But to hold on to it like a thought that's constantly plaguing your mind.
You and I, we believe in peace
You and I, we don't want war
You and I, we believe in harmony
You and I, we'll fight till we score.
You and I, we are, American Muslims

Hello Rana...
Welcome to Cosmo!
Please don't confuse the people with the rulers...
But, I would like to ask a question though I'm sure what the answer would be...
If you are a business owner and a non-Muslim and a Muslim applied for a position who would be hired?
Let me ask you one more if I may...
What would my chances be if I was in your country?
Please be honest...
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

First of all, I am not biased and I would honestly choose the one who has better background on the job applied for I will NOT pick the Muslim because I am one and in this poem I'm not talking about everyone who is not Muslim, I'm talking about the ones who don't know the truth about us
And for you being in my country, I don't know what you mean by the country I'm in or the country I'm from?
And because of you I like this sight already thank you for welcoming me!
This young American makes me proud to bean old American.
Rana great poem welcome to cosmo peace and love to you
Hi Rana although I do not come from America
I hear what you say it is the world over that people judge
I can only imagine how hurtful it is for this judgement
to be for you, for me I look at it this way there is good and bad
in every creed color race and religion but at the end of the day
we are all just people trying to live in this unjust world
The minorities that are bad are the ones that should be judged
as individuals
Peace be with fellow poet my respect for sharing your work with
us and Welcome to Cosmo
Best wishes Debs
I loved what you said to Deborah 10 stars for that
Thank you so much for your comment Deborah, it means so much to me. And you're right, this poem doesn't just represent bias against Muslims but everyone
