When's "The End"?

When is it all over?
When I look around to see no obstacle?
Is it blocking my way forever?
The height making the jump improbable

When will I be completely satisfied?
Find my way to the top of a tree 
Only to see a sunset then fall to my demise?
Happiness for a split second then I have to pay a fee

When can I be selfish?
Look around to see thriving fruits
While I wrinkle to rubbish
Sustenance for the roots?

When can I rest?
When I see my spouse with grown children
Can I lay pleased on his chest?
Will happiness then be certain?

When can I sit down?
When immense fortune greets me?
Nothing on my face but a frown
Will no time for love be the key?

When does it all end?
Maybe when I close my eyes
Never to wake up again
Is that what is truly wise?

Living may come with a price
But happiness is also the prize
Shivers down your spine like ice
But in the end, you'll rise

It ends when you look around 
With happiness and pride
It doesn't end when all you found 
Was a lonely reflection undignified
