An adolescent longing

An adolescent longing

The yearn to escape lies deep in my cry,
away from this constant conformist beige,
away from the slack jawed local stare,
as adolescent longing claims my being

Forever this want doeth shackle my heart,
amongst "cheap shifts", "the hop" and the buffoon's realm,
my vessel moored under sails of splendour,
awaiting the voyage to open hearts

Too many nights perfecting what's lonely,
a heart that is bruised eclipsing the mind,
misunderstanding builds walls around me,
how I yearn to fly to skies I know

My longing is hunger, my longing is want,
yet this longing is purpose deep inside,
a purpose which feeds the fight within,
living on the sustenance of hope's eternal promise.
