Angels In The Sand

My life has been about teaching, educating the young, and hoping some day it would make a difference
Now, I am retired, maybe more tired, and sadly, I have this thing, this thing, they call cancer
It started a couple of years back, and now, guess what, it is back, two times, tumors in my brain
What the hell, can I say, I try to be tough, and not show my pain, not get too angry, or the angels won't come my way
Though I had many special needs students, who indeed were angels, they lifted my spirits, on the darkest of rainy days
Angels who believe, in the gardens roses, and the streams, and lakes of swans, and ducks, the beauty still remains
To catch a falling star, to make a wish, and to believe, in love, in peace, and hope, this still keeps me sane, as I still have thought
Until the morning after, the sun will beam upon my face, and the bald head, will be set free, in heavens hands, he will take
I will be healed, I will follow his footprints in the sand, where my feet sink, and my legs drip with wet, the starfish will smile at me
My students, would love to play, in the summer on vacation, they would tell me stories about making angels in the sand
The seagulls will follow, and the oyster clams will clap, when they see me this way, it will be a time for pleasure, for songs I love to hear, for all I have fought
Angels who believe, know that cancer can not keep me, when I am set free, the wings of doves will flee, and the kids will be in my heart, for IÂ have been well taught

Cherie-
This poem is not about me, it is about a friend of mine, retired school teacher, for special needs children, and she first had battles with breast cancer, then went to lung, and two years later, well the poem tells it. But you can say, I feel pain for her in her struggles, but she is a wonderful fun lady, with spirit and faith. Angels are following her, and I am saying my prayers as well.
Thanks for your kindness
Best Wishes

Hello Nancy...
This is a beautiful dedication...
She sounds like one that is not going to stop fighting...
Sometimes, we battle something and through experience and a good team we can battle it again...
May the Angels lead her down the road to Victory...
Prayers and thoughts are with you and your friend...
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...
