An Angel's Winning Team

My friend, Debbie, she was so spirited and free willed
Could do nothing but succeed, energy, beauty, exciting
Found out two years ago, she had breast cancer, strength
Be it, she was going to prove to conquer this evil inside
Her children, her pride, a true hero, her friends stood by
An athlete indeed, volleyball, baseball, always on the winning team
Then suddenly, the unfortunate news, it spread, doctor's said she must have it removed
Always so proud, but not too proud to have the surgery that might save her life
Her boys had a benefit for the cure at their school, a volleyball game for the cure
A year passed by, things seemed real fine, then another appointment would be a blur
Spreading to her lungs, bone, and then to her head, more chemo, lost hair, so much to bear
It's been a year ago now, a frosty autumn night, you could feel in the air the scare
A benefit dance and auction took place on the very night she passed
Her friends and family had made a great success, over thirty thousand raised to pay the bills
All I can say is I miss her today, a guard dressed in his uniform stood infront of her coffin
She was a proud state employee of the local corrections, a strong woman, a security guard
Her strength will always remain in her love of her boys and her husband with pride
A cry for help, let's put this disease out of it's misery, no one will forget you
We praise you, your courageous fight, and honorable mention for being a woman
The angels in heaven are now on your team
Debbie, we love you today, and tomorrow and always
