Animal Rights

They're working on a new vaccine to beat 'it,'
to be 'tried' on animals first, then humans;
the traditional method, it's tried and tested,
you can't start on humans, because they might die.

So does that mean that humans are more important?
Yes, of course, but suffering is the smoking gun,
it 'falls' away within the melange of importance,
there is nothing you can do to think otherwise.

Ironic that humans are falling, animals still standing,
the campaigners might have their justice after all,
I think not, the hiccup will fade like old-fashioned bats,
when we're all in the pub again, stroking white cats.

So perhaps the highlight pinpoints something after all,
the protest is gone, until the next bug comes along.
