To Annette

Elegy To Annette

When you died
The sun died too
And all the
moon and stars.

When you left
A blackness fell
That drags
along the hours.

My heart is left
with hollow rooms
that are dark
And full of grieving.
Your light it lit
The darkest gloom.
Oh! Why did you
think of leaving?

The world is crying
for your grace.
We needed much
more of your love
It leaves an empty
lonely  space.
The sky weeps on us
from above.
