Another Fall

Another Fall

I thought I was entering summer

My bark was thick and my branches were rich

But a wind has blown right through me

My fruit has fallen on the ground

My tears splash upon them as they rot away

The soil feels cold and my roots shrink back

My leaves are drying up and scattering away

How has autumn come so soon
