Another Winter’s Eve

Another Winter’s Eve

Winters eve
The world is quiet
Robed in blankets of white
Soft,
Flakes of snow fall, cascading
One
By
One
The only sound
The constant cry of the bitter wind
Footsteps muffled
Icicles hang
Like glittering ornaments,
From every branch and bough
Smoke from the chimneys
Gently curl into the sky-
An endless grey
The world is asleep
Resting
Patiently awaiting spring.
