Poem -

Apples

How can you ask me to believe you
With lips that so often lie?
How can you ask me to trust in you
When you are nearly the only reason I cry?

How can I have faith?
How can I even bare to hope?
When over and again I am left
lost and lonely and trying to cope?

How can I continue
to expect the best to come to be
When often times I have cried out for you
and again you denied my plea

When stormy weather came
and I felt paralyzed with fear
I'd turn in search of comfort
and find you nowhere near

You are asking me to expect mangos to grow
Despite what my eyes can see
But when year after year apples fall from its branches
It must be and apple tree
