April Fool’s Day

Tomorrow’s the one they call April Fools, you’re supposed to play a big joke;

But since you’ve been gone I don’t care to join, my joke bank is totally broke!

I wish the Almighty had played one on me, I’d awake and this would I see;

It was merely an old April Fools’ Day joke, and you were laying there right next to me!

I’d pull you real close and never let go, I’d treasure every new day;

Together we’d be reunited again, and together we always would stay!

I’d know all the mistakes that I had made, I’d have learned in my horrible dream;

And then I’d correct all I’d done wrong, we’d become an inseparable team!

Is it wishful thinking, or pure fantasy, or could it possibly take place?

So tonight I’ll think hard and wish it to be, I’ll drift off with a smile on my face!

And I’ll be praying the morning on April Fools’ Day, I awake and it will really be true;

Instead of the cascading tears in my eyes, they’ll be looking straight over at you!
