Arbitrary Irony

We live in a society

Where we all must prink

Giving these teens anxiety

About what to wear, how to think,

Why does society, Decide the propriety?

What happened to variety?

What happened to notoriety?

I mean nowadays society

Says losing your cellphone

Is more dramatic than losing your virginity.

This is the same society

That says everyone is beautiful

But make us castigate ourselves entirely

Screams at us time and again that we are unsuitable

We are puzzle pieces that are not supposed to fit

but society erodes us so often that we grit

But nobody truly fits,

Society convinces us all that we are a generation of misfits

Because nobody is supposed to mesh together like jigsaw

Because we are our own puzzle

Why can't we flaunt every flaw?

Or be proud of every struggle?

Instead of hiding behind powder

And tight tops and short skirts

Liner and mascara like cowards

Why do we hide? Why do we flounder?

Why do we follow the norm?

Let us be our own person

Stop the daily preform.

We are tired of carrying this burden

Of looking like all the rest

Of spending hours getting ready

Of trying to look the best

All these teens are stressed

Its making them depressed

It is time we confess

Time to progress

Time to stand up and say No

To the norm and the trend

Do not go with the flow

Be you, and stop the pretend

Because society is an arbitrary power

It will beat you to your knees

make you question yourself

call you disgusting in the mirror before a shower

Says you're wrong in every way till she hurts herself

Ugly wrong misfit teen

Til it pushes teens to kill themselves

Then turn around and say she was so beautiful and only sixteen

Why'd she leave? such a tragedy

She'll be so missed we are all in agony

Oh,the irony

I told you society was arbitrary

Society says that

Teen boys should never be virgins

But teen girls should

And homosexuality is"sin"

So who are teen boys supposed to be having sex with if nobody else could?

And according to this arbitrary power,

Every girl is beautiful, skinny or fat

And then show models whose stomachs are only flat

I'm tired of the confusion

We are not misfits.

We must stop disguising ourselves

To find the conclusion

To solve the global judgement

Of Teens today,

To stop this arbitrary power and put our makeup

Because we must not follow the norm

We are our own definition of beautiful

And we must flaunt our true form.
