AS CHRISTMAS NEARS
Crackling fire inĀ hearth,withĀ smell of pine
candles flicker, romanticĀ scene divineĀ
Snow falls outside,Ā dusting ofĀ window glassĀ
minds eye, perfect picture of, Christmas
Yuletide nears full of children`s glee
excitement tangible to put up the tree
BaublesĀ tinsel lights,Ā angel on high
stockings found! with happy sigh
Ah yes! i reminisce of bygone days
noĀ sameness now,Ā feelĀ soĀ blaseĀ
Children older but will try my best
to make it special,t`will be a test
HeartĀ not in it, just makes me sad
need to find Christmas spirit, i had
Lost mother father both December
thoughts of sadness do encumber
Think of ChristĀ bornĀ this day
family gather around table, pray
Lord giveĀ strength as Christmas nears
for happy jolly, notĀ saddenedĀ tears

Ā After losing my mother father and my children`s
father in December it is bittersweet for me i`m sure i willĀ
join in the festivities, just thoughts of people not present nowĀ
can take away the pleasure inĀ Christmas somewhat,
