As I Sleep

Written as part of the deep thoughts poetry challenge...

Thoughts so deep,
Stir in my mind,
Memories of all that I’d left behind,
Still linger and fall,
In amongst the shadows,
In amongst it all,

Now and then I begin to recall,
All that I’d tried to piece together,
All that I’d try to escape for so long,
In amongst the beauty that shone,
That look that you gave me,
That kept me going on and on,
When all that I once loved,
Had gone,

With every heartbeat,
I fell deeper and deeper,
Until all I could see was you,
There was nothing else,
That moved my world,
Turned it upside down,
And broke it apart,
For in your hand you held my heart,

You filled it with such positive vibes,
Kept me alive,
You cradled me in your arms,
You gave me something,
That stirred deep inside of me,

That transformed into memories,
That I hold so dear,
That when I close my eyes,
You are so near,
Always in my thoughts so deep,
In dreams that stir in my mind as I sleep.
