Ashes

Ashes
Â
Why don’t we just burn this love down?
Scatter it’s ashes upon hallowed ground
Â
Your love’s a burning fire out of my control
And your many burns have taken their toll
Â
Like a wreck less heart upon a raging sea
Your vows have come to mean so little to me
Â
Feel I am caught within the eye of the storm
You reigned your misery on a once happy home
Â
Like a bird I shall spread my wings and take flight
Won’t look back until I see tomorrow’s light
Â
I’ve got a million miles of rocky road ahead
Taking life back into my hands before I’m dead
Â
I will leave you behind in the ethereal mist
Forever breaking the spell of your poison kiss
Â
I will shed the weight of your controlling words
To return to you never you can be assured
Â
You made me a prisoner confined in a cell
If you ever loved me it was so hard to tell
Â
You have a heart that is carved in stone
I will taste freedom while on my own
Â
Once I was drowning in a sea of my own tears
Foolishly gave my heart to you all those years
Â
As I kneel upon the banks of the river
I pray that my soul the lord will deliver
Â
May my heart and soul find love and happiness
Lord come into my heart and make it blessed
Â
I will never forget all of the anguish and pain
Now that it is only ashes that remain
