Attitcus

Your words
Are as empty
As the face
Behind the mask
Selling wine
Jewelry
And temporary
Tattoos
Of your ink
On your poetry
Website
Creating poems
As though
They are pieces
Of clothing
In a Kmart
Fashion Line
You cheapen
Our
Craft
For monetary
Gain
Attitcus oh
Attitcus
Your annomity
Is just a symbol
Of an imposter
Who manipulates
the unenlightened
Reader
Into thinking
They
Are reading
Substance

I had never heard of Attitcus before (apart from the Greek god). I had to Google Attitcus, and even then I got results for Attitcus Finch played by Gregory Peck and, of course, the Greek god. So I had to Google Attitcus poet... And then I found him! Attitcus, the guy you are writing about. I still haven't read anything of his except for what I found on his website, namely, a silver ring engraved with the words "it was her chaos that made her beautiful" (which I loved). He has two best selling poetry books. He IS a poet and as with all poetry you either love it or hate it (poetry is very much a "marmite" thing). His work may indeed be mediocre, I don't know I haven't seen it (I do love that ring though... The words on it have a certain.... "ring") but I do know he has marketed himself and his work exceptionally well.... And the success of a writer these days depends entirely on marketing. That, and luck. I have noticed that luck and marketing play a bigger role than talent. Once upon a time it used to be all about the content, these days it seems to be all about the dazzling lights and hype that surrounds it. The successful, new poet these days is suitably attired in what a well known emperor once wore ?.
A great write Greg I have learned something new from this and I shall research the poet ahem, sorry, the guy further x
Tina I am being harsh with him
he has market himself well. I just want substance behind his words. I plan to market myself. I am ok with that. Just substance.
I am really going to have to check his work out now, lol. You have me intrigued. Lots of people do not rate Rupi Kapur either. I love some of her stuff. Just wish I had that sort of gift...I think anyone does.
Glad you are going to market yourself and I wish you all the luck in the world x
Hi Tina. I came across rupi you mentioned recently too when I was browsing thru the poetry section on Amazon. I saw the pages that were available to see. She seems to have done well and got good reviews on her stuff. I havent read any of it but read the few I could view on Amazon.
I actually was thinking to myself is it really that good. They were very short pieces with some illustration. Anyway I havent read it so cant comment much. But have heard of her. Px
Hi Greg. Some very good points and a great poem piece. I have only recently heard of this atticus. I can see he has been marketing himself. I don't know what think of his poetry either. They are mainly just one sentence. Anyway I do not know enough but had to comment on your piece. Good to hear your views. True poetry is us ?

Pratibha and Tina
For decades I criticize William Carlos Williams Jr. I however have grown to love and admire his work. One day the light ✨ just popped on.
Attitcus and Rupi both have done some great marketing. The substance though is lacking. My new soon to be published book " Sour Cream and Vinegar" is a parody to Rupi's " Milk and Honey" ?
Hi Greg
I am very new to knowing any poets famous or otherwise!!
so I will have to look these up!
Its good to share critique.
I never even considered myself a poet until this year lol!!
Maybe they are!! Lacking it!!
Congratulations on your book though!! A parody sounds intriguing!! Must post when it's out!!
I also have a poetry book coming out on 1st oct!! My first ever one!!
I have posted the book cover on here. Px
Sour cream and vinegar hahaha oh, I'm loving it already, greg x
I know proper great title!!
