Autumn Gladness

Those faded woods
and leaves,
where we ran and played
in summer´s exuberant
sun red petals
and leafy lanes.
Now in Autumn dress
in every shade ofÂ
green and gold,
the forlorn summer
birds have flown.
The sun and moon are low
and the air and stars are cold.
Upon the ruddy cheeks
light flashes red and yellow,
images flicker inÂ
vibrant affection for
changing delicious
coloured fruits and sweets.
The bold passion of bonfires
and firepits,
artful, delightful loves
and the arts and crafts
nurtured, savoured as precious,
in the best kept, most fashionable
gardens of the mind and soul.
