BARBED WIRE AND BUNKED BEDS

I'm a Jew taken from home in nineteen forty two
When Hitler calls the shots today I cannot argue
Where am I being taken dear friend I have no clue
If I had a choice it's something I just wouldn't do

Like other Jews we now arrive at our destination
Our faces are long certainly isn't any celebration
Hundreds of bunk beds would be my estimation
Barbed wire on the fence was fully in operation

I took off my coat not knowing what's in store
I'm just a Jew caught up in the horrors of war
Men with rifles now occupied the front door
Something I couldn't dismiss and easily ignore

Don't know how but survived the next three years
Heartache along the way and cried many tears
Nightmares to take with me as lasting souvenirs
A constant reminder of the smears and sneers
