Bard of Avon

Fellow Poets did you ever wander
As dreamers do time we squander
Typing on keyboards till hours late
Capturing rhymes to permeate
Premeditated we think aloud
Always hiding under a Shroud
Our thoughts run wild soaring free
Words roam from war to fantasy
Compete with greats do we dare
Can we measure can we compare
Belting from the depths of souls
Far surpass the writing on scrolls
Yeats, Tennyson, Browning, Blake
Master piece epics did they create
With pen and paper they scribbled
Line after line deliberately dribbled
Shakespeare’s words still captivate
Strong, profound, did not abate
Scratched and edged day after day
Tremendously churned poems array
Were this our era would we survive
Put pen to paper, bring words alive
Computers and Google for us to use
An epic master piece can we produce
Five hundred years we too must wait
To stand the test, to become great
“Bard of Avon” we curtsey and bow
In your footsteps we hope to follow

very good writing,I liked it.
This is really great and I have so often thought that I spend so much time writing, every chance I get I seem to be reading or writing. But I have been like this since childhood, so dont think I ll change anytime soon. Writing is my drug of choice. :)Â
Just glad I can write on a computer now, I have SO many notebooks from years ago, all stored away now.Â
You are a wonderful writter Lee-Anne and I love your style of writing, I have read a few of your poems this evening and you have a great way with words.  Well done and please keep writing and sharing.Â
:) Thanks for this poem, loved it.Â
Dear Louise,
Thank you for your kind words, I relate to your computer story as I am still a bit in the dark ages - I still put pen to paper, I dont have a computer at home so I log on at work - ( stealing a bit of the bosses time...shhhh) - It is on the top of my wish and want list-
Writing certainly is a good release !
Have a blessed weekend !
