Age Comes With A New Face

Botox, face peels, bleached and bladed brows,
Thinspiration and thigh gaps as well as white veneers
Anti-wrinkle, anti-aging, anti this and that,
When is this obsession with vanity going to stop?
The standard of beauty oscillates to the point of insanity
No one knows what is natural and what is surgery
And the worst part of this whole obsession
Is that it fails to acknowledge that aging can’t be stopped
That it is such a natural and graceful process
The cycle of life and death, something creams can’t fix,
So, embrace the crow’s feet, the freckles, the eleven lines,
Because once the appearance fades, you start to see the real,
The way that people treat you, and what you are inside,
The best face you have comes through, when the mask is gone,
And who you naturally are is seen.

Hello K.G...

Some people end up.looking like a Muppet...

They might like it better...

It takes a lot of money to look like that...

My Mother didn't believe in all that stuff...

The thought made her screamish...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

She used to color her hair and I said to her one day...

Shouldn't you look gray?

She said yes...

I said you don't want to start looking weird now...

Right?

She stopped...

To her surprise at 72 years old after not dying her hair for 5 years she actually had very little gray when she died...

She was a beautiful woman naturally with a heart of gold...

Do anything for anyone even if she went without...

Her thing was what more could she ask for?

She had everything she needed...

Friend, stranger...

It didn't matter...

When you're poor...

It's too hard to be greedy and selfish...

She left up to her wealthy relatives...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...
