BEAUTY AMONG THE DEAD

Even though citiesÂ
Are adorned with flashing lightsÂ
And painted signsÂ
Buildings tall and smallÂ
Housing stores of all sortsÂ
Separated by thin wallsÂ
In designers mallÂ
Men cruisingÂ
In their flashily cars
While beautiful womenÂ
Dressed in the latest stylesÂ
Sipping expensive champagneÂ
Looking so damn refinedÂ
I found beauty beyondÂ
My wildest dreamsÂ
Flowers of all sorts scatteredÂ
On patches of evergreenÂ
In the graveyardÂ
Where surrender lives
Rest, from their pilgrims toil
Words of kindness and love
Engraved on whited slabsÂ
And marble walls.
