BEAUTY AMONG THE DEAD

Even though cities
Are adorned with flashing lights
And painted signs

Buildings tall and small
Housing stores of all sorts
Separated by thin walls
In designers mall

Men cruising
In their flashily cars
While beautiful women
Dressed in the latest styles
Sipping expensive champagne
Looking so damn refined

I found beauty beyond
My wildest dreams
Flowers of all sorts scattered
On patches of evergreen

In the graveyard
Where surrender lives
Rest, from their pilgrims toil

Words of kindness and love
Engraved on whited slabs
And marble walls.

Wilford Barker.

Love?

when does it become
so fuzzy

that it's blind to the eye?
