Poem -

Because you are gone

I woke up today and you were gone
my love my life my bird song
I saw your coat upon the rail
your cup your slippers
it's so final now
I lift your brush from the side
and gently wipe my tear-stained eyes
a memory a short life burst
but you are gone
tormented sleep and restless wake
I prayed the Lord your soul to take
but kept you near and wanted one
more day to say the things
I never got to say
because your gone.
