Behind These Walls

Behind These Walls

Looking out plain glass,

Grass blows in the wind,

Sun shines on black asphalt,

Growing hot,

Children scream and holler in play somewhere in the distance,

The shadow of this house darkens all in its path with despair,

A mother mourns the loss of her son,

A father drinks in the absence of someone,

Silence echos along these halls,

While a sister stares motionlessly at its walls,

She knocks on a door expecting no one to call,

Her brother is in a place he can't speak from,

Loss gives so much of an unwanted touch,

emptiness fills these hearts.
