Being A Diabetic

Being a diabetic
Comes with less treats and more tricks
Being a diabetic
Comes with many highs, and many lows
Being a diabetic
Comes with little catches, and so many blows
Being a diabeticĀ
Has its ups and downs
Being a diabetic
Comes with problems from all around
Being a diabetic
Comes with lots of disabilities
Being a diabetic
Comes with the lack of your abilities
Being a diabetic
Comes with lots of responsibilities
Being a diabetic
Messes with your heart
Being a diabetic
May literally tear you apart
Being a diabetic
Comes with many hopes
Being a diabeticĀ
Comes with a lot of false hope
There is no cure
There is no fixing
But those who are a diabetic
Can conquer the way of living
We can survive by fighting
We can live long lives
As soon as we find the silver lining
As long as the sun is shining
Our smiles can keep on flying
I am a type 1 diabetic and I know the struggle. If anyone reads this and needs a friend to talk to, Iām here.Ā

Hi Stephanie, lovely lines. Iām glad you created this support center, I hope it will receive many people so need you kind therapy. Of all the medicine I have prescribed, a joyful heart still remains a good medication. And itās free! Great job. Warm regards.
Thank you so much! I'm hoping it can help at least one person who reads it. I know the struggles, the changes, the dedication and it gets tiring, and exhausting, but living is worth fighting for! Thank you for your kind feedback and taking the time to read this poem as I find it is one of my most important ones I've ever written.
It caught my eye because I am a diabetic and can relate. Thank you so much for illuminating this trial that so many struggle with that is otherwise ignored by many that don't understand because they can't see the pain with their eyes! Felt the suffering in your poem without having to see a wound!
Thank you so much. I really feel diabetics should stick together and learn together and grow together. I've been a diabetic for 14 years and still learning how to live with it, cope with it, and accept it. It's hard, never said it would be easy but this poem brought out the visual pain and suffering we go through because like you said, no one can see it. Us diabetics, are blind to it sometimes too. That's why I felt the need to bring it to life. Thank you again so much for reading and giving feedback. If you ever need to talk, I'm here.
