Beneath

Today I will take my heart

and bury it in the ground

under trees that share no light

where silence is the only sound.

I shall bring no flowers

or mourners showers

to place by its lovers feet.

for all the love it gave away

was sad and bittersweet.

I will never visit here again

for the forest is dark and cold.

I shall seek all life’s joyous refrains

as much as I can hold.

I shall stay where life is fun

and go where the four winds blow.

The night is when I shall weep again

But no one will ever know.
