Blackness

Blackness

Trapped here in blinding blackness
my eyes shut for relief
just to see the same
still the blackness is found

Solely to accentuate
the deafening silence
groaning in my ears
although, completely devoid of sound

Hands stretch out before me
with every fingertip
and it's senses
begging to discover anything around

Tip toeing carefully
hoping not to fall
Anticipating the emptiness
and the sudden loss of ground

Isolated here I cannot discern
between myself and the dark
I fall deeper toward selflessness
as torments in my mind resound

I am abashed of time
and where it begins
or when it will end
The beating of my heart is my only comfort as it pounds
