Blessed By Kess
Part 1 of a 5 part series dedicated to my friend

Some people are lessons aren’t they?
I sure learnt a lot from you
I learnt that some people are just built a certain way, no matter what you do
I learnt that I was fragile and didn’t really understand
And things don’t always go just the way I’d planned
I thank you in a way as I have blossomed ever since
And it’s because of how you treated me that I am better, I’m convinced Â
I realise how much you were knocking me off track
Two steps forward, but always one step back
Sleepless nights
Blaring fights
Lies and cheating
Who’s this bitch you’re meeting?!
It became a game of three long years
A game we both knew would just end in tears
But I was a teenager when this started, Kess
I was blinded by your love
And I’m older now so I understand
That isn’t what is was
And I just wanted stability
Remember what I’d said?
About my childhood and all the shit that goes through my head
Of course you remember we’ve talked for hours and hours
We’ve shared a lot more than just steamy showers
It’s funny when you come across a blessing in disguise
Because although you treated me the way you did
I’ve managed to dry my eyes
You masked yourself as this saviour who wanted nothing but the best
Took me a while to understand this, but you’re just like the rest
See, I was happy, I thought everything was fine
Here I am now, years down the line
Had your baby, raised a child, that you don’t want to see
It’s okay, he don’t need you, he’s got me
But I just don’t understand, you’re such a family man
Or do you just decide which kids you can’t be bothered to see and which ones you can
Thank you for the bad times, the good ones and the sad
You couldn’t be a decent fella, or a decent dad
And the point of this poem, isn’t to upset you
It’s just to let you know that I’m okay, I’m no longer blue
I’ve matured now, I’m 22, you played and lead me on
But I ain’t got the time no more, I’m busy being a mom
(This is a poem looking at events from my friends perspective, I am the author of this poem but the poem is not in relation to any events in my personal life, I am just writing in her shoes - The series is called ''Wren the day comes to tell you'' - her last name is Wren, she keeps a lot bottled up inside and think this is a brilliant way to help her understand that people do listen and she is important.

Thank you so so much. I’m so excited to share the rest of the series! ❤️❤️ It’s quite the experience for me, as I am really having to try and put myself in another persons shoes without any understanding of how much it really did upset her. Xx
