Poem -

Blind

Eyes glued shut,
she remains blind
to her surroundings.

Having to rely
on her other senses,
she ponders to think
where she could be.

It feels unsafe,
but if only she
knew why.

She senses tension
in the air,
thick enough
to cut.

Taking a deep breath,
she's able to will
her eyes open.

It's as bad
as she feared.

Another deep breath,
and she sets out to conquer.

The moment she has waited for...

Up she walks,
to the bully she'sĀ
always had.

She says a string
of words,
that'll change her life forever.

I ain't afraid.

A gasp
among the crowd,
the bully backs down.

Silence remains...

With a smirk,
she walks away.

Knowing she has nothing
to fear anymore,
and that her life has changedĀ
for the better.

Who knew one sentence could be so powerful?
