The Bookworm

The Bookworm

Gnawing through the pages, hungrily digesting the words
I cannot put the book down; it’s becoming quite absurd
I get up in the morning and aim straight for my book
Result is that the housework doesn’t get a second look
The characters so alive in my mind; as if they really do exist
Occasionally recapping the pages to check there’s nothing I’ve missed
So eager to reach the end but not wanting the story to close
But as soon as I finish the book, I’ll have another one under my nose
