Bounce Back

For every person
that told me
I wasn’t
GOOD-ENOUGH

For every person
that told me
I wasn’t
WORTHY

For every person
that treated me
horribly
ABUSE

For every person
that took advantage
of me
WILLINGLY

For every person
that put themself
before me
SELFISHLY

I used to
think I deserved
all of you
WHOLEHEARTEDLY

Until I learned
to love myself
for who I am
SELF-DISCOVERY

To every person
who treated me
like dog shit
I FORGIVE YOU

Because I realize
as I have grown
it wasn’t me
that caused you
all of the
PAIN

But rather yourself
from everyone else's
actions and words
creating self-hate
INSECURITIES

I recommend you
focus on yourself
and quit deflecting
your past flaws
focusing on
EVERYONE ELSE

There’s one person
I listen to
he looks me
dead in the
EYES

His reflection no-longer
scares me anymore
because I finally
LOVE MYSELF

Love this Rob, I think we can all gain insight from your wise words. People do project their own fears onto others. It can be a struggle to learn to love ourselves. But ultimately it does make for a more contented life. A fine poem, I especially enjoyed the highlighted words (capitalised) I feel this was superbly fitting for this piece. Like revelations in ones head that creat clarity

Being Me

This is a poem that should be read by EVERYONE! We should all learn to love ourselves especially because the ones that naturally do love themselves don't do so with the right reasons or in the right way. Kind people with big hearts and a lot of love for everyone else often find it hard to love themselves... At least that is what I have found. I am glad that you see it was them and not you. Keep moving forward my friend. A fabulous inspirational poem x
