Boys Will Be Boys

He starts off young and sweet at the age of four

He is playing wild and rough as kids always do

He’s goofy, silly, just a kid

No one sees much force

Seeing the girl across the street he grabs her hair

Laughs it off as the girl’s temper boils

It’s what all the other boys do

And that’s when the adults say

Boys will be boys

He is growing up fast, now at the age of twelve

Sitting at home playing video games

Nothing else to do so he stays in his room

In the dark he dwells

Now the girl across the street is cute

Picking on her is something he enjoys

He calls her a freak, as they laugh it off

And the parents all say

Boys will be boys

He already feels old and tired

At 19 he is completely done and through

The girl across the street doesn’t even look at him

It’s as if her interest is already expired

He pins her down, taking control like before

But this time is treating her like one of his toys

As always he ignores everything that she says

But hey, as his parents always said

Boys will be boys
