The Brass Ring

The Brass Ring

rolled out of bed, grabbed some coffee, another day of insecurity

grown tired of work, grown tired of proving to all, my manly maturity

my child like behavior, friends see as strange

nothing else matter, but my constant change

used life’s many tools, listened to so many fools

now I will lose the fast talkers, and play by my rules

where dit it get me, this dreams I still chase

time lost in mirrors, adjusting my face

to smile when unhappy, to shake hands by force

with those who insisted I follow their course

no I’m not bitter, I’m now so much smarter

to do things my way, is a very good starter

come by if you like, stay away that’s alright

I know if you come, that you’ve seen the light

that all that should matter, is you being content

some disagree, if their hope has been spent

so lift up your spirit, and grab the brass ring

on the merry go round of what a good life can bring
