Sticks and stones
Distaste.
Mind the face.
Oh, don't bother me.
I`m a different race.
Warm-hearted, cold-blooded - boiled long ago.
Distant voices departed - turned into ghosts.
Fires started – bridges burned.
Forgiven sin with the lessons learned.
I can hear the laughter.
It`s easier not to fit in,
On a curved Earth.
When it starts to spin,
When the deservers lose,
And the rule-breakers win.
Warrior’s clash,
With sharpened swords,
While phrases flash,
“Less is more”.
Simple servant.
Thrown;
Sticks and stones,
Like garden gnomes,
Betrayal - ice cold.
It tears me apart.
Like a fish of the sea.

Max...i think the votes can confuse us. I learned myself off a fantastic writer on here...Icarus Flock. I learned so much from his work which was always packed with emotion in an off kilter..fuck off way. He never got many votes yet his work was unique and outstanding, I wish he would come back. Write for yourself Max...people like it or they don't...irrelevant. It's always nice if they do mind...extremely nice but it shouldn't be the main objective or we would all only ever produce chocolate box...and you can get sick on too much chocolate 🤪🤩😆🤗

With your way with words, there is no need to lose motivation. I know all too well that life can get in the way, but poetry is such a powerful tool to kerp/become sane again, that I kept toiling for over 40 years and it got me to your writes🙏🎉💐. I know how much support I got out of Cosmos the last year (unbelievable I've been here less than a year) and how much good this would have done me, say 35 years ago... So, yes, you deserve this! You stay save too, my friend.
Max just write for yourself and damn any torpedoes be fearless and stick to your poetry beliefs and principals.
We all worry we're losing our va va voom and mojo every single day and worry whether this piece or that piece is worthy or even welcomed in the eyes and minds of others.
As it is and mirrored in one's self.
Life is like that and it will through everyone a curve sometimes, but we take it and eventually move on to better things, slowly perhaps but still moving in the right direction.
And if you can spare the time read Desiderata by Max Ehrmann it works for me and is a poetry bible to uplift and instil hope in any reader.
Thanks for sharing Max and my friend you are NEVER alone on this matter and NEVER ignored.

Sorry Max I am late reading your poem. I haven’t been on too often of late.
I have lost count of how many times it has baffled me, that good people suffer the worst kinds of things, and rotten eggs get away with scandalous acts, and live happy care free lives.
I loved this poem it was feisty, kind of in your face. The world can feel unjust indeed

we have to be in the world and now I have the luxury of not being of the world .I just poke my head above the waves once in a while to see if it is still functioning. don't want to witness to much suffering so I try to help one at a time, so I don't drown.
