Breaking Ground

Breaking Ground

You Broke Ground with me
yet you did not allow me
to use a shovel

You prepared a seat at the table
for me
but I was given no utensils

You protested on the streets
Telling me to become an activist
for  equality and inclusion
while banning me from
having a voice
I was told I was irrelevant

Tolerance allows
everyone to think
and be how they
see fit
even when their views
are deemed to be ignorant

open-mindedness releases others
from group control
it is non selective
in its invitation
It tries to find common ground

Love is only Love
when rejection
is not a condition
to non acceptance.
