Breathless

Breathless

Never knew air to be poison
Filling her with hope the more she took
Yet she kept her breath steady
As her heart was pierced by loves hook
A painful unrequited love
Like nothing you’ve ever read in a book
Still gracefully she stumbled through
A sour tear, here and there she snook
Hiding her pain as if life were a masquerade
Yet while lovers danced, she only stood
Smiling she watched, like a guardian angel
Just like a broken-hearted girl should.

Touch my soul like only you do, let it soar...
