Bring back the good old days?

Bring back the good old days?

I can remember tho it doesn’t seem that long ago
My Mam used to make me wear several layers below

I had a cream thick vest next to my skin
I was thankful for the warmth of this coz I was so very thin

Next I had a liberty bodice, tho you don’t get them now
But they were very popular back in bygone days somehow

Then I had a petticoat so that was layer three
Tho I wasn’t finished layering
There was still some more for me

My tea-shirt was number four
You’d think I’d be too hot
But this is just what I was used to wearing
So I can tell you I was not

Number five was my jumper
Usually made of wool
If it was a week day
It would be a grey one for school

Well that was five items of clothing
I wore everyday
I never felt too hot or cold
I was just right I have to say

Now can you imagine that today
Kids go outside sparcely dressed
If they had been in my day
I bet they wouldn’t be impressed

But then again everything has changed
Not just what we wear
From the not playing outside
To the colours of our hair

Children were children back when I was young
They spoke only when they were spoken to
& Never used fowl tongue

Not like today, kids don’t play any outside game
They like to amuse themselves with hand-held gadgets
I think it is such a shame

Bring back the good old days
When children loved to be outside
Tho I imagine things we did
Health & Safety would be horrified

Hello Jill...

What we did as kids probably scared themselves when they had Children...

Times have changed for sure, the Child predators multiplied ten fold...

Give a kid a gadget and their out of your hair...

Right?
