Poem -

Bring him back to me

Bring him back to me

He was off to war in Iraq,

and I didn't know when he'd be back again.

Our family went through pain, we prayed every night.

I got down on my knees and said God,

Bring him back to me, bring him safe into my arms.Β

Where I can keep him safe from harm.Β

I can see him now. Just a littleΒ boy,

In our living room floor playing with army toys,

Those big old trucks, but I didn't know that's what he'd do when grew up.Β

I was watching CNN, when I heard the man say, we lost four more of our men today.Β

I couldn't hold it in, I started crying.

About that time I heard the door bell ring.

It was him. It was my son.Β

I dropped to me my knees and cried,

You brought him back to me, you brought safe into my arms.

Now I can keep him safe from harm.Β
