Brother

Brother
Â
                    you died last night
sister rang shortly after midnight
found you on t’living room floor
Â
lying face down near t’living room door
heart attack heart gave up died alone
no chance to get to t’phone call 999
Â
coroner said “t’would have been quick
taking into account t’heart condition
and t’way you were lying on t’floor”
Â
aged sixty one isn’t old at all
if you’d managed to make t’call
might have been saved alive today
Â
life and fate are often cruel
both following t’simple rule
heads they win tails we lose
t’choice is theirs not ours to choose

Dark,put simply but deadly
Thank you, Keith
saying things in a simple uncomplicated way is often the best way to deal with events in life.
a short poem often does that and in my case did.
kind regards
Rowland
Hello Rowland...
My Brother and Dad were found on the Kitchen floor...
Two different houses and years apart and both in front of the refrigerator...
My Brother died the next day...
I'm very sorry that you got that call...
Beautiful and sad write!
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

Thanks, sparrowsong
i very much appreciate your support.
i was saddened to hear about your Brither and Dad.Â
Thank you for your comments about my poem which I started to write after hearing my sister's tragic news. I found writing the poem to be helpful in coming to terms with my brother's death. Poetry never fails where other thoughts and actions often do.
kind regards
Rowland
