Brotherhood

Quote initially from Hemingway

Brotherhood

the world breaks everyone
and afterwards, many are strong
at the broken places

we heard the mullah
call the believers
before morning
dawn

A bumpy ride
on a bus tour
with an upset
ram on top
breathed life
in a couple
ignorant souls

who could of dreamed
of all the broken places
that would be placed
before us
in separate
but unison
experiences that
were carved
into our existence

the cobble streets
of essaouira
sang our pathway
defiance being your
tambourine
while diplomacy
blew my horn
and though
somehow our
instruments
interchanged
throughout the years
i never recalled
the bell
of normalcy
being present
within the mix

Brotherhood
works that
way

somedays
I dread
the last tune
that will eventually
find its way

yet when it emerges
it will fade into
the heavens
where eternally
tunes of yesterday
are continuously played...

Being Me

The first verses took me to a crowded street in Morocco, you painted the picture beautifully. There is a  thread of melancholic acceptance running through the words. Great work x
